Wi-Fi Signal Patching Project WAVLINK Arieal X 4 Antenna Extender

Nowadays, it is popular to use Mesh Wi-Fi Router to solve the Wi-Fi blind spot problem, however, Mesh systems often cost more than $1,000 or even $2,000, so it is better to go back to the basics and use Repeater (Range Extender) solution for the best value. The latest WAVLINK Arieal X Wi-Fi Range Extender (WN579x3) is a full-fledged device with a total of 4 long antennas and the ability to switch to Access Point or Router mode!

Few Wi-Fi Range Extenders have four antennas, and the WAVLINK Arieal X has a large X-shaped heat sink on the front, hence the "X" in the model name.

4 x 5dBi antennae

WAVLINK Arieal X features four 5dBi high-power external antennas with 20dBm Transmit Power to deliver powerful Wi-Fi signals for wider coverage and better penetration, as well as Beamforming technology that identifies the location of each device and directs Wi-Fi signals in the direction of the device for a stronger and more stable signal. The antenna can be twisted in different directions and the body is narrow, so it does not affect other system positions.

In terms of speed, it adopts AC1200 specification (2.4GHz 300Mbps + 5GHz 867Mbps), which can transmit both 2.4GHz and 5GHz spectrum simultaneously. In addition, there are two Gigabit LAN ports under the chassis, one of which can be converted to WAN when used in Router mode, and the entire chassis is covered with heat sinks, including the top antenna side and the back of the chassis, which help the Repeater maintain normal temperature operation and avoid overheating and crashing.

Even the back of the machine and around the antenna have a large number of holes to dissipate heat

There is one Gigabit WAN/LAN port and one LAN-only port.

The fuselage is narrow and will not block the side of the system.

When you press the button to set the WPS, the Repeater's LED shows that only 1 frame of signal is received

Router and AP modes

AP means connecting the Router with LAN cable and then distributing Wi-Fi, which is suitable for scenarios where the Repeater is far away from the Router; while Router mode is convenient for situations where the Router at home suddenly fails and a temporary Router is needed. However, because it is positioned as a Repeater, it has fewer functions, only WAN and DHCP functions, and lacks QoS, firewall, parental monitoring, mobile app, and other functions that a normal Router has, so it is not recommended to use it as a Router for a long time, but it may be more suitable as a travel Router.
