I’ve had 5Gb fiber internet for a while but couldn’t take full advantage of it since most motherboards only support 1Gb or 2.5Gb Ethernet. This adapter changed that—plugging it into a USB 3.2 Gen 2 USB-C port finally unlocked the speeds I’ve been paying for!
Setup was quick and painless. Just make sure the rest of your setup can handle it: CAT6A (or better) cables, a router with a 5Gb port, and of course, fast enough internet service. I’m now getting full 5Gb speeds, and this adapter hasn’t missed a beat. Definitely worth it if you’ve been stuck at lower speeds.
It won’t get as hot as a 10Gbps adapter. Depending on the requirement, this is the better choice, if you can't reach over 5Gbps anyway (smallest common denominator source <-> target), take advantage of the Macbook Air M4, thus achieving 560MB/s constantly with large files.
This USB-C LAN adapter exceeded my expectations! With speeds up to 5Gbit/s, it delivers an incredibly fast and stable wired connection, ideal for NAS downloads, video conferencing and streaming on my MacBook Pro. The plug-and-play feature made the setup child-friendly – easy to plug in, and it works instantly without installing drivers on Windows 11 and macOS.
Compatibility with Thunderbolt 5/4/3 and a variety of devices such as iPad Pro and iPhone 15 is a big plus. The aluminum housing with heat dissipation ensures durability, and the compact design (8.1x3.1x1.8 cm) with 9 cm cable fits perfectly into my mobile setup. The LEDs for connection status (green for 5Gbps, yellow for slower rates) are super handy.
Whether in the home office or on the go, this adapter offers reliable performance and is a must for anyone who needs a fast, secure network connection. Absolutely recommended for professionals and private users!
This is a well-made Ethernet adapter that works perfectly with my MacBook Pro. It was truly plug-and-play and no drivers needed. It delivers super fast and stable speeds compared to wifi. Great build quality and reliable performance. It is priced at £36.99 at the time of review, which I think is reasonable considering the build quality and performance. I highly recommended it for anyone looking to add a wired connection to their USB-C or Thunderbolt device.
This is a USB-to-Ethernet dongle at the leading edge of speed capability, with the ability to handle 5Gbps connections (as well as 2.5G, 1G or 10/100 connections, of course). It's based around the Realtek RTL8157, a new chipset that I'm sure we'll see a lot of in the coming years; the USB VID is 0x0bda and the PID is 0x8157 if you want to check compatibility with your favorite operating system. I'm using MacOS X 15.4, and it seems to be loading a generic built-in Realtek driver without any problems; I haven't had a chance to test it on Windows or Linux.
It isn't in the listing for some reason, but the actual model number is WL-NWU341G.
Physically, this is a bit bigger and heavier than other USB-to-Ethernet adapters, so if size matters more than speed, you may prefer a smaller, cheaper module. But if you're looking for fast connections and future-proofing, or if you're trying to take full advantage of a fast cable or fiber connection, the size tradeoff is likely worth it for you. The connector comes with a short and very flexible cable, so I don't find the size to be a huge imposition.
